Video Transcribed: Did you know that if you have a deprived case, a termination, possibly your child’s in adoption, and you’re a Native American member of a tribe, your child’s eligible for enrollment and you live in most of Eastern Oklahoma, then there may be something that can be done on your case right now that couldn’t have been done a month ago.
Hello, my name is Ryan Cannonie, I’m an CPS Defense Lawyer with the CPS Investigation Defense Law office.
I want to talk to you a little bit about how McGirt has changed pretty much everything in Eastern Oklahoma. Now, the full extent of what McGirt means … If you’re wondering about McGirt, I’ve made other videos about it.
Supreme court case basically saying reservations are still intact in Eastern Oklahoma. But the full extent of McGirt is still not fully known. There’s a lot going on, a lot of moving parts.
It really impacts pretty much everything in the legal community on this side of Oklahoma, but no one knows how far that is going to be extended.
But one aspect that we believe that can be looked into is when it involves issues with children, cases with children, and if the state can even prosecute those.
So, if you have a situation where you’re in a deprived case, you are a member of a tribe, your children are, you live within the Creek, Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, or Seminole reservation territories, then give us a call.
It’s something we can look into. We can advise you on kind of where everyone believes this is going, maybe get you on the front lines of using McGirt to try to get your kids back. Give us a call.
